Crested Butte Bridal Session for Julia & Michael
Julia & Michael’s Crested Butte bridal session was a fairytale, filled with dreamy sunrise lighting, shifting cloud coverage, horses in the background, and beauty beyond measure. With Julia’s Cinq dress and its flowing bridal train and veil, she became a romantic and ethereal bride, the perfect match for Michael’s classic aesthetic.
The two planned to use their engagement session, that was provided in their wedding collection, as their bridal session the day before their wedding and it was the perfect opportunity for us to capture some amazing bridal portraits at Snodgrass Trail in Crested Butte. We all woke up well before the sun rose, allowing us to get some magical sunrise lighting and beat the afternoon rainstorms. While there had been plenty of rain in the days leading up to their wedding weekend, they were blessed with not only rainless skies, but also beautiful partial cloud coverage, which made the morning that much dreamier.
For their Crested Butte bridal session, the two wanted scenic views of the Crested Butte valley, hopeful that the nearby horses would roam closely while we photographed their session. While they didn’t get as close as we had hoped, we still reveled in the beauty of the horses as they roamed through the valley below. As big horse people, Julia and Michael loved the moments when the horses were closest to us.
While most couples choose to do their first looks on their wedding day, Julia and Michael chose to do their first look moments before their bridal session began. In order to achieve this successfully, I set up Michael on the trail and faced him away from where Julia would be coming from. With the help of her mom and best friend, Julia arrived in full elegant glam (all done by herself!) and we set her up quietly behind Michael. When Michael turned around, it was nothing but joy shared between them.
I absolutely loved this pre-wedding Crested Butte bridal session and because it was such an amazing experience and opportunity to get plenty of bridal portraits without the rush of the wedding day schedule, I highly recommend other couples consider doing the same!
